NEW ORLEANS-Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns women’s soccer team has had unprecedented success during the 2007 season.  A great deal of that success has been due in large part to senior Stephanie Lynch and on Tuesday afternoon she was recognized as a member of the 2007 All-Sun Belt Conference soccer team.

Lynch was named to the second team.  She becomes just the fourth Ragin’ Cajuns player to ever be named to all-conference.  Lynch is the first Cajuns player to be tabbed all-conference under head coach Scot Wieland.  The Evansville, Ind., native joins Lotte Rasmussen (2004), Sara Vineberg (2002) and Stacy Smith (2002) as the only all-conference selections in program history.

Lynch finished the regular season third on the team with 14 points.  She scored five goals on the season, while adding four assists.  Lynch was second on the team with a pair of match-winning goals to her credit.  Two of her goals have come in Sun Belt matches, with all four assists coming against the SBC.  One of her match-winning goals was in conference.

The senior ranks in the top-10 in nearly every offensive category for UL.  She ranks eighth with 14 points in a season and first in career points, while ranking sixth in goals in a season and second for career goals.  Lynch ranks first in career match-winning goals and sixth with four assists in a year and second for helpers in a career.  She holds the Cajuns’ top three single match records for most shots.  Lynch ranks fifth in shots in a season and first in career shots and career shots on goal.  She was voted Player of the Match against Florida Atlantic.

She helped the Cajuns to the No. 5 seed in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament.  The Cajuns will play No. 4 North Texas at 1:00 p.m. at the SBC Tournament in Mobile, Ala.  Louisiana is the No. 5 seed by virtue of a head-to-head win versus Florida Atlantic.
