LAFAYETTE-Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns women’s soccer team opened up the home conference season with an impressive 4-0 victory over UALR on Friday night. Sophomore Courtney Hofland scored a pair of goals in the win to lead the Cajuns.
Hofland’s two goals on the night marked the first time since Sept. 19, 2004 that a Cajuns’ player scored multiple goals. Kristina Nadolski netted a pair of goals in a 5-0 UL victory against Nicholls State.
Senior goalkeeper Kristen Malen continued her impressive play. Malen recorded four saves in the match en route to her second shutout of the season.
The Cajuns broke out of a three-match scoreless slump as Hofland netted the first goal of the match with under a minute gone in the match. The goal would prove to be the match-winner as the Cajuns defense kept UALR off the scoreboard. Callie Oliver recorded the assist on the goal.
Oliver added her second assist of the night as she passed the ball down the field to Kelli Jestes on a break away for the Cajuns’ second goal.
The Cajuns entered intermission with a 2-0 advantage.
UL extended their lead in the second half. Hofland netted her second goal of the match off of a free kick just under seven minutes past in the second half.
Redshirt freshman Katie Fisse scored her first career goal as a Cajun in the 89th-minute of the match. Fisse took a pass from Kat Bergeron right in front of the goal and slipped it past a diving goalie for the goal.
The Ragin’ Cajuns continue the home weekend with a Sunday afternoon match with Arkansas State. Kickoff for the match is slated for 1:00 p.m. ![]()
