LAFAYETTE, La. – The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns soccer team earned the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Academic Award, after posting a 3.02 team GPA in the 2012-13 school year, as announced by the NSCAA office.
The award is given to schools who have a cumulative team GPA above 3.0. The Cajuns also won a national academic progress award, which was announced last spring.
The Cajuns had one of their most successful seasons in school history, coming within a goal of sharing the Sun Belt Conference regular season title, and finishing as the highest seed in school history.
Junior Grace Howell-Harries became the first Ragin’ Cajuns soccer player in school history to be named Defensive Player of the Year, also picking up Sun Belt First-Team Honors. She was joined on first team by Yazmin Montoya, and Annika Schmidt was named to the conference second team.
