Soccer: Cajujns Eliminated From Sun Belt Tournament By Appalachian StateFoley, Ala. – The fifth-seeded Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns soccer team was eliminated from the Sun Belt Conference tournament by fourth-seeded Appalachian State, 3-0 on Wednesday at the Foley Sports Tourism Complex. Louisiana (8-9-2, 4-4-2 SBC) held Appalachian State (10-7-2, 4-4-2 SBC) scoreless in the first half, but the Mountaineers used three second half goals to pull away from the Ragin’ Cajuns. Appalachian State scored in the 58th minute on a goal by Jackie Nieradka from 20 yards out off an assist by Jane Cline. Erin Settle scored her seventh goal of the season for the Mountaineers in the 66th minute off an assist by Nieradka. Appalachian State extended their lead in the 77th minute on a goal by Maggie Hanusek from the left wing. Sarah Peatross was credited with the assist. The Mountaineers held a 14-9 advantage in shots, with nine coming on goal. The Ragin’ Cajuns had five shots on goal, but couldn’t get a ball past Appalachian State goalkeeper Sam Steyl. Louisiana sophomore goalkeeper Cosette Morché had six saves in the match to finish the season with 89 saves.
