LAFAYETTE, La. – In an effort to better service the fans, student-athletes and their parents and recruits, the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns Athletics Department will provide free video streams for all of its sport programs starting this fall on the Ragin’ Cajuns Digital Network, Director of Athletics Bryan Maggard, Ph.D., announced on Friday.

"We felt this was both important and beneficial for our fans, student-athletes, and recruits.  Maggard said.  This shift will provide viewers the opportunity to watch all of our home events from anywhere in the world while increasing the visibility of our university, sport programs, and student-athletes."

The Ragin’ Cajuns tested the switch to a free stream model with the 2017 spring sports and saw an increase from 8,500 views during the 2016 baseball season under the subscription model to almost 31,000 views last season.

"After seeing the viewership rise during both baseball and softball when we tested out the free model it became obvious to us that this was something we needed to do across the board," Maggard added. "Not only is this beneficial for our fans and current and prospective student-athletes and their families, but it also helps to create new sources of revenue for the department going forward."

Similarly, the number of viewers for Louisiana softball home contests jumped from 6,000 in 2016 to almost 24,000 under the free model in 2017.

All home events not aired on the ESPN networks will be streamed live on the Ragin’ Cajuns Digital Network on RaginCajuns.com.

The link to access the Ragin’ Cajuns Digital Network can be found under the Fan Zone tab on RaginCajuns.com. Links to the streams will also be available on the schedule page for each sport.
