RCAF ANNUAL FUND SURPASSES $2 MILLION MARK FOR FIRST TIME

LAFAYETTE – With just over four months remaining in the calendar year, a record-setting period in donations for the Ragin’ Cajuns Athletics Foundation Annual Fund will continue to increase.

After setting a single-year record in unrestricted donations earlier this month, the RCAF Annual Fund eclipsed the $2 million barrier for the first time, RCAF Chairman Wayne Elmore announced on Monday.

“It is definitely a great time to be a Ragin’ Cajun,” Elmore said. “With the help of the RCAF and the continued support from its members, the University can attract and retain the top coaches in the nation and upgrade facilities, allowing our coaches the student-athletes needed for a championship-caliber program.”

The University announced previously on Aug. 3 that a record $1.76 million was raised in unrestricted donations, surpassing the previous mark of $1.67 million set in 2013.

The record-setting amount in donations comes on the heels of a year in which Ragin’ Cajuns athletics was the lone school in the country to: win a football bowl game, send a team to the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championships, host NCAA Regionals and Super Regionals in both baseball and softball, and send a team Women’s College World Series.

Overall, the Ragin’ Cajuns captured Sun Belt Conference regular-season championships in football, baseball and softball while claiming SBC tournament titles in men’s basketball, baseball, softball and men’s tennis.

Investments to the RCAF Annual Fund provide unrestricted funds to enhance support for overall operations, personnel, and facility improvements, such as elements of the Athletic Facilities Master Plan, which was released last year. Work on the first tier of an initial three-tier program is currently underway at Cajun Field with the addition of nearly 7,000 seats in the south end zone, the installment of a new state-of-the-art video display system, and added concession stands and restroom facilities.

The addition of the south end zone expansion resulted in the addition of a pair of prime midfield seating areas for potential season-ticket holders on the east side of Cajun Field, while current season-ticket holders will have the ability to print their tickets at home and will have mobile ticket access on their smartphone.
