Powerlifting Team Finishes 1st Women and 4th Men at USA Powerlifting Collegiate NationalsDaily Advertiser, April 24, 2012 The UL powerlifting team finished first on the women’s side and fourth in the men’s division out of 29 competing schools at the recent USA Powerlifting Collegiate Nationals competition held in Baton Rouge. Kyle Ramsey stood out for the men by breaking the American and junior squat record, squatting 805 pounds and the press record at 529 pounds. On the women’s side, Dana Wallace was first in the 44kg category, Alexus Jackson took top honors in the 82.5kg division and Jayla Richardson was first in the 90kg weight class. Others who placed for the women were Lauren Lucia and Ashley Durel fourth, Stephanie Hamilton fifth and placing third wre Lauren Deniger and Taylor Miller. Others to place on the men’s side were Joshua Thibeaux and Ricky Hu are third, while Jordan Levers and Phillip Richard were fifth. Athletic Network Footnote:
