COLLEGIATE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
ULL Powerlifting Team Results

Summary:
The USA Powerlifting Collegiate Nationals was held in Killeen, Texas, on
April 13-15, 2007. Forty schools nationwide were represented at this meet.
Out of the forty schools represented three of the top five men’s teams came
from Louisiana. The USAPL Collegiate National Men’s Championship goes to the
LSU men’s team, second place went to Louisiana Tech, and ULL took fourth
place in the men’s division. The top five schools were as follows: 1) LSU,
2) Louisiana Tech, 3) Army, 4) ULL, and 5) Sam Houston. The members of the
ULL Powerlifting Team are as follows:
Second Place Finish – All American, Derek Dupuis competed in the 123 lb.
weight-class. He squatted 314 lbs., benched 231 lbs., and deadlifted 444
lbs. to earn a total of 986 lbs.
Fourth Place: Andrew O’Halloran competed in the 123 lb. weight-class. He
squatted 225 lbs., benched 236 lbs, and deadlifted 292 lbs, for a total of
755 lbs.
Fourth Place: Kerry Louque competed in the 198 lb weight-class. He squatted
617 lbs, benched 319 lbs, and deadlifted 617 lbs for a total of 1554 lbs.
Fourth Place: Daniel Hutchinson competed in the 242 lb weight-class. He
squatted 578 lbs, benched 402 lbs, and deadlifted 589 lbs, for a total of
1576 lbs.
Seventh Place: Mike Melancon competed in the 165 lb weight-class. He
squatted 457 lbs, benched 319 lbs, and deadlifted 507 lbs, for a total of
1278 lbs.
Seventh Place: Brian Calvo competed in the 198 lb weight-class. He squatted
562 lbs, benched 424 lbs, and deadlifted 518 lbs, for a total of 1504 lbs.
Ninth Place: Chris Wright competed in the 132 lb weight-class. He squatted
314 lbs, benched 231 lbs, and deadlifted 369 lbs, for a total of 914 lbs.
Ninth Place: Jeff Melancon competed in the 148 lb weight-class. He squatted
407 lbs, benched 281 lbs, and deadlifted 380 lbs for a total of 1068 lbs.
Other competitors that lifted on the ULL men’s team are as follows: Carl
Landry and Matt Gibbens both competed in the 165 lb weight-class. Ben
Dabadie competed in the 181 lb weight-class. Don King competed in the 220 lb
weight-class.

Representing the ULL women’s team Abigail Holmes competed in the "None of
your business" weight-class, and placed fourth in her weight-class. She
squatted 264 lbs, benched 143 lbs, and deadlifted 286 lbs, for a total of
694 lbs.

All lifters that competed in the 2007 USAPL Collegiate Nationals had to
qualify in order to be eligible to compete at the national level.

This year’s ULL Powerlifting team consisted of six veterans, and six new-
comers, and is expected to have all but four members return for next year’s
Nationals. The ULL Powerlifting team is expecting even more members to
qualify for the National Collegiate Championship next spring, and to bring
home the National title.
