Philip Wayne Dabbs

May 9, 1944  –  April 16, 2016

Philip Wayne Dabbs, of Hoover, AL passed away Saturday April 16, 2016 with his family by his side.  He was known by all as "Poppy" and was very proud of that name.  His passion was Alabama football, and spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He also loved fast cars and enjoyed taking his Grand National for a spin. He was a salesman by trade and retired in his late 50’s.  He was able to spend his remaining years being a proud grandfather.  He loved the Lord and spent time teaching his grandchildren about Him. They loved their Poppy’s stories.  He is predeceased by his grandson Austin Dabbs, his mother Elizabeth Dottley, and his father, Maurice Dabbs.  He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Marjorie Dabbs; his sons Christopher Dabbs (Alison) and Joel Dabbs (Joyce); grandchildren Philip Dabbs,  Katherine Dabbs, Logan Dabbs, Jacob Dabbs and Conner Dabbs; his siblings Powell Dabbs,  Marshall Dabbs; Eileen Olive and Nancy Fisher. Visitation will be held Thursday April 21, 2016 from 6pm to 8pm at Currie Jefferson Funeral Home on John Hawkins Parkway Hoover, AL.  Funeral Services will be on Friday April 22, 2016 at 11am at the Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Valleydale Church Preschool or the Red Barn.
