Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at a 12:00 PM Memorial Mass in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette for Jerry Lee Comeaux, age 70, who died on Monday, November 17, 2014 at his residence surrounded by family and friends.

Reverend Howard Blessing, Pastor of Holy Cross Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant of the Memorial Mass. Reverend Joseph F. Brennan will con-celebrate. Lectors will be Dawn Menard and Melissa Robichaux. Giftbearers will be his grandchildren, Logan Comeaux, Cameron Mouton and Brennan Korner. Eulogist will be Joanie Comeaux-Mouton. Anna Rees, soloist, will sing for the services.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 48 years, Madlyn Lester Comeaux; two daughters, Joanie Comeaux-Mouton and Jennifer Korner; his mother, Norma Lee Fontenot Comeaux; one sister, Clara Robin and her husband, Tony; three grandchildren, Logan Comeaux, Cameron Mouton and Brennan Korner; one niece, Dawn Robin Menard; one nephew, Brad Robin; his mother-in-law, Emma Lester; one sister-in-law, Carla Smith and her husband, BB Smith.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lee J. Comeaux; infant brother, Earl James Comeaux; his maternal grandparents, Clarence and Theresa Tauzin Fontenot; and his paternal grandparents, Jean Batist and Edmonia Melancon Comeaux.

Jerry Lee Comeaux was a native and lifelong resident of Lafayette, Louisiana. He attended Cathedral Carmel School, Teurlings Catholic School, and was a graduate of Northside High School. Mr. Comeaux was a former board member of LAGCOE, Bright Light Foundation and helped organize the Louisiana Oilmen’s golf tournament. Jerry was Man of the Year for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society. He worked as a Golf Pro for over 20 years, and was on the PGA Tour. Mr. Comeaux also worked in the oilfield industry for over 35 years before his retirement. He enjoyed playing golf and fishing with his friends at his favorite spot, Toledo Bend. Mr. Comeaux loved spending time with family and friends, especially his wife and daughters, but his grandchildren always held a special place in his heart. He loved watching them play sports and was their biggest fan and coach on the sidelines.

The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille’s DOWNTOWN location on Saturday from 8:00 AM until time of service.

The Comeaux family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Heart Hospital, Dr. Jon Leleux and his staff, Dr. Christopher LaGraize and his staff, Mrs. Donna Landry, his special nurse, Krystle Broussard, RN and the staff of NSI Home Health and Hospice.
