Geri Ann Glasco, age 24, of Lafayette, LA, went home to Jesus on Thursday, January 24, 2019. Geri Ann was born to Gerry and Vickie Glasco, on February 12, 1994, in Marion, Illinois

Geri Ann was currently serving as the Ragin’ Cajuns’ Volunteer Assistant Softball Coach at University of Louisiana. She loved her team and the girls she was working with daily. She was looking very forward to helping lead the Ragin’ Cajuns’ to battle in the 2019 season.

Geri Ann’s softball career began at Washington Middle School in Johnston City, Illinois. Geri Ann, along with a very special group of teammates, was able to win two state titles in her 6th and 8th grade seasons in 2005 and 2007. During her 8th grade year in 2007 the team finished 27-0 and won the State Championship by run rule.

Geri Ann then attended high school at Oconee County High School in Watkinsville, Georgia where her teams won state championships in both her freshman and senior seasons. Geri Ann earned numerous awards during her prep career including being named 1st Team All-State all four seasons. Following an outstanding senior season in which she hit 24 homeruns and had a 19-0 record as a pitcher, she was named ESPN’s National Gatorade Player of the Year.

Geri Ann’s freshman year at the University of Georgia she was named SEC Co-Freshman of the Year as well as an Easton and NFCA All-American, and 1st Team All-Region. Her sophomore season Geri Ann and the Bulldogs won the SEC Tournament Championship with Geri Ann going 3-for-4 with a homerun, a run scored and 2 RBI in the Championship Game. Geri Ann played her junior and senior seasons at the University of Oregon. The Ducks won back-to-back PAC 12 titles, played in the Women’s College World Series in 2015 and Glasco was named All-PAC 12 in 2015 and All-Region both of her seasons playing for the Ducks.

During her senior season in 2016, she was selected as the 16th overall pick by the Akron Racers in the NPF draft and competed in the summer of 2016 for the Racers.

Outside of softball she was an active member of the community at Oregon working at the Center for Autism and Related Disorders in Portland, accumulated over 300 volunteer hours helping in elementary schools, participated in Read Across America and Special Olympics, volunteered at a food pantry and planted trees for Trees for Humanity.

Geri Ann’s family is comforted by her last post on social media, “We must remember that to be who God needs us to be, we have to let go of our own feelings.”

She is survived by her sisters and brothers-in-laws, Bryan and Tara Archibald of Normal, IL, Josh and Erin Simons of Temple, TX; maternal grandmother Shirley Johnson of Creal Springs; paternal grandparents Gerald and Sue Glasco of Marion; nephews Aidan, Maddux and Payton Archibald and niece Caroline Simons; uncles and aunts, Terry and Shelia Johnson of Harrisburg, Louie and Chris Johnson of Creal Springs, David and Katherine Cedar of Marion, Rick and Jeannie Eiler of Freeport and Brian and Mary Ellen Taylor of Marion; cousins Jeremy (Christy) Johnson, Jerod Johnson, Sarah (Matt) Rongey, Drew Johnson, Sam Cedar, Leslie (Mike) Thompson, Elijah Eiler, Cecelie Eiler, Trent Taylor and Brianna Taylor.

Geri Ann was preceded in death by her Grandfather Ernest Johnson.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at the Second Baptist Church in West Frankfort (1902 East Oak Street) with Dr. Brett Beasley officiating. Private family committal service will follow in Fairview Baptist Cemetery near Creal Springs.

The family will receive friends on Monday, January 28th, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the church
