Erath – A Mass of Christian Burial for Andre’ Joseph Sonnier, 20, will be held at 11:00AM on Monday, January 19, 2015 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Fr. Bill Melancon officiating. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery.

Visitation will be at David Funeral Home of Erath on Sunday, January 18, 2015 from 1:00PM until 9:00PM with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00PM. Visitation will resume on Monday, January 19, 2015 from 8:00AM until the time of the services.

A native and lifelong resident of Erath, Andre’ died at 3:49PM on Friday, January 16, 2015 at his residence. He was a friend to everyone and never met a stranger and was always willing to take on new challenges. He was known for his enjoyment of fishing, hunting, water sports, and snow skiing. Andre’ was in his junior year of the electrical engineering program at UL Lafayette where he was also part of the cheerleading squad.

He is survived by his father, John Clement Sonnier and his fiancée Dana Cessac of Erath; his girlfriend, Lauren Eddy of Breaux Bridge; a brother, Jordan M. Sonnier of Erath; three sisters, Sister Teresa of Jesus, OCD (Britlyn Sonnier) of Lafayette, Catherine Sonnier of Erath, and Lauren Sonnier of Erath; a step-brother, Jude Cessac of Erath; two step sisters, Kristin Sellers of Erath, and Hailey Cessac of Broussard; maternal grandfather, Joseph Keith Arceneaux and his wife Janora of Delcambre; Maternal grandmother, Katherine Simon Hotard and her husband Brian of Erath; maternal great grandmother, Lorraine Simon of Erath; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Monique Arceneaux Sonnier; and his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Sonnier.

Serving as pallbearers will be Alex Bergeron, Nick Bergeron, Ryan Richard, Fred Watson, Ryan Poche’, and Charles Davenport.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Blair Sellers and Chris LeMarie.

David Funeral Home of Erath at 209 E. Putnam St. (337) 937-0405 will be handling the arrangements.

University of Louisiana at Lafayette electrical engineering major and cheerleader Andre’ Joseph Sonnier, 20, passed away Friday, Jan. 16, at 3:49 p.m. at his home.

Sonnier’s friends and family recalled the Erath native as being friendly and willing to be challenged. Sonnier enjoyed hunting, fishing, snow skiing and water sports.

Service for Sonnier was held Monday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with the Rev. Bill Melancon officiating. Sonnier was buried in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery following two days of visitation and a Sunday rosary recitation.
