Men’s Tennis: Men’s Tennis Takes Two Flights, Finishes 15-3 on Weekend

Vlad Kramarov Cajun Classic 2014

NEW ORLEANS – The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns men’s tennis team finished the weekend at the Big Easy Tennis Classic, winning 15 of 18 matches and claiming two flights on the campus of the University of New Orleans campus.

In the doubles bracket, Jake Wynan and Coleman Wahlborg combined to win three of four matches before falling to Pedro Wagner and Mathias Chaim of Jacksonville State in the finals.

In the Flight 2 singles bracket, Wynan defeated Troy’s Daniel Bustamante to take the flight, 6-2, 1-6, 10-4.

The Flight 3 singles bracket saw Wahlborg and Vlad Kramarov advance to the second round, winning their matchups, 6-1, 6-1 and 6-1, 6-0, respectively. However, they fell victim in the following round to opponents from Xavier and New Orleans.

"I thought the tournament was an overall success going 15-3 and winning two out of three flights in singles," Ragin’ Cajuns head coach Mark Jeffrey said. "This is the result we were looking for to get some of these guys going for the spring.

"We have been training hard and it is good to see the players getting rewarded."

The men’s tennis team is in action next at the UTSA 10,000 Futures in Niceville, Florida from November 5-12.
