EL PASO, Texas – Sophomore twins Yates and Hunter Johnson finished the summer off on a high note this past weekend after winning the men’s doubles open championship at the Southwest Adult Open in El Paso, Texas.

The twins won the title taking out two seeded teams en route to winning the final. The field included teams with players that ranged from top college players to ex-ATP players.

"The twins are really trying hard and pushing every week,” head coach Mark Jeffrey said. “We are really excited to see how hard they work, and passionate they are about being as good as the Bryan brothers one day. They are such great role models for the twins. The year that the Bryan brothers are having just motivates the boys I know. We are looking forward to having the boys back in action for the Cajuns."

Hunter and Yates did not drop a set in their four contests with their toughest challenge coming in the semifinals with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over the duo of Mario Urquidi of the University of Arizona and Vedran Vidovic of Indiana State.

The twins return to action on Sept. 10 when they take part in the Claremont Futures Doubles Main Draw.
