Men’s Basketball: UL’s Shawn Long named to mid-major All-American team

UL junior forward Shawn Long was named to the Mid-Major Madness Preseason All-American first team.

The 6-foot-9, 245-pound forward from Morgan City averaged 18.6 points and 10.4 rebounds per game last season in helping the Ragin’ Cajuns to win the Sun Belt Conference basketball tournament and a NCAA Tournament berth.

Long has averaged a double-double in both of his seasons at UL. He also averaged 2.86 blocks per game, good for 28^th in the nation.

Long joins Wichita State guards Ron Baker and Fred Van Vleet, Virginia Commonwealth forward Treveon Graham and UC-Santa Barbara center Alan Williams on the first team.
