One day after scoring a career-high 32 points in a 102-74 home win over South Alabama, UL’s Bryant Mbamalu was named Sun Belt Conference men’s basketball Player of the Week, as well as the LSWA’s state Player of the Week with Cecilia Okoye of McNeese State.

Mbamalu also pulled down 11 rebounds for his first career double-double and scored his 1,000th career point on Sunday against the Jaguars.

The senior from Dulles High in Sugar Land, Texas, is averaging 12.1 points per game for the 19-10 Ragin’ Cajuns, who visit Western Kentucky on Thursday night and close their 2013-14 regular season Saturday night at Arkansas State.
