Men’s Basketball: Long Named To NABC Division I All-District Team
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns standout Shawn Long was named on Friday to the 2015-16 NABC Division I All-District team, in a vote made by member coaches of the National Association of Basketball Coaches. Long, the all-time leading rebounder in Ragin’ Cajuns and Sun Belt Conference history, led the league in scoring (18.9 ppg.), rebounds (12.1) and blocked shots (1.8) and was named the SBC’s Player of the Year. The Morgan City, La., native finished a stellar career for Louisiana finishing third in school history in scoring (2,342 points), first in rebounds (1,447), first in blocked shots (273) and first in games started (131) while ranking 12th in NCAA history in career double-doubles (75). His 411 rebounds recorded during the 2015-16 season tied former Ragin’ Cajuns great Roy Ebron (1971-72) for the second-best total in a single-season in school history. Long was joined on the District 24 team by first-team picks Majok Deng of ULM, Josh Hagins of Little Rock, Tookie Brown of Georgia Southern and Frank Eaves of Appalachian State. Named to the second-team were Wesley Person, UT Arlington’s Erick Neal, Justin Roberson of ULM, Devin Carter of Arkansas State and Georgia State’s Jeremy Hollowell.
