Men’s Basketball: Inaugural Beryl Shipley Classic plans are announced – 1957-73 era celebration
Beryl Shipley Classic
Dear Shipley Era Players, Coaches, Managers and other personnel, 1957-73,
Please go to www.athleticnetwork.net > Photo Gallery > Basketball (M) > Beryl Shipley Classic for information on that week. Please note that the focus will be as follows: Friday – Shipley Family; Saturday – Former Players, Coaches, and program personnel; Sunday – fans, supporters, cheerleaders, dance teams, faculty, staff, and others who were part of the Shipley era. Check Registration Information for details. Of primary importance at this time is the Signature of the Shipley Family Photo – Nov. 3rd deadline – four ways to get your signature to Brock Morris, Asst. Basketball Coach. Secondly, please act on the lodging link if needed. They are holding rooms specifically for the BSC and have provided the university rate. The Hilton Garden Inn is located across the street from the Cajundome. While the schedule of events covers the Friday – Sunday events, remember the Shipley Tribute Gala
is on Wednesday and calls for a separate registration. The BSC registration information is posted and you are asked to respond ASAP – it will help greatly with planning. The Development Committee, chaired by Chris Landry, has some information posted which can be copied and sent to others. Your assistance on this matter is appreciated. Donors will be listed on the link shortly.
Information on all of the above topics, including a BSC shirt and a welcome letter from Coach Marlin are active link on the BSC page.
In the meantime, please attempt to locate all teammates, managers, coaches, trainers, etc., from the Shipley Era and have them email athleticnetwork@louisiana.edu so they may post a current profile and be made aware of the BSC. To view the alphabetical list of basketball players for each year, please click on "Select a Team" in the upper left of the AN home page, highlight and click on Basketball (M), and scroll down to the years in question. Click on a name and you can view their profile. Your assistance in completing the profiles for this era is sorely needed. Thank you.
Lastly, for those who wish to locate former players, etc., (who do not have active AN profiles), click on www.whitepages.com and see who you can locate. The Basketball Network was built by teammates contacting teammates – still the best method of obtaining AN profiles. Time is of the essence, so please closely review the packet sent to you in the mail and react to the various timelines.
I trust this email message finds you in good health…wishing you and your family well. Peace, Ed Dugas Dr. Ed Dugas, Coordinator ![]()
