Men’s Basketball: Bartley On Two-Week Tour Of China On Reach USA Team

LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns men’s basketball player Frank Bartley is a part of a 10-member collegiate team that is currently on a two-week tour of China, competing against Chinese professional teams.

Bartley, a Baton Rouge native who will be a senior for the Ragin’ Cajuns in 2017-18, is part of the 2017 Reach USA Friendship Tour of the Far East.  The cultural exchange trip will allow the team to experience international basketball, learn about a new culture, and develop new relationships, team officials said.

The team, coached by Tom Schuberth, arrived in China on May 14 and will return on May 28. Bartley is one of three in-state players competing on the team, joining Ishmael Lane of Northwestern State and Southern’s Jared Sam.

Bartley is the third member of the Ragin’ Cajuns to participate for Reach USA joining former Cajuns Elfrid Payton (2013) and Jay Wright (2015).

In his first season with the Ragin’ Cajuns after transferring from BYU, Bartley averaged 15.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.7 steals per game in being named the Sun Belt Conference and Louisiana Sports Writers Association Newcomer of the Year.

A third-team All-SBC and LSWA selection, Bartley started in all 33 games for Louisiana and finished among the league leaders in scoring, assists, steals, free throw percentage and 3-pointers made.
