Jeff Schneider, Associate Director of Athletics Communications

Jack Tolson 2017-18

LAFAYETTE, La. – Louisiana sophomore golfer Jack Tolson captured his first career Top 10 finish on Tuesday firing a round of 68 (-4) at the 33rd annual Louisiana Classics held at the par 72, 6,866-yard Oakbourne Country Club.

As a team, the Ragin’ Cajuns moved up two spots to finish in a tie for 11th at 10-over par (874) with Rice.

No. 3 Texas A&M was the wire-to-wire champion finishing the event with a three-round score of 29-under (835). The Aggies’ Dan Erickson tallied a 68 (-4) in the final round to claim the individual title with an overall score of 10-under (206) edging McNeese’s Blake Elliott by one stroke.

Sliman’s Thoughts

"First of all, I have to thank everyone at Oakbourne who helped make this a great event. Each year the membership here helps to put on a first class event, and we can’t thank them enough for all that they do. I’m proud of Jack Tolson and the way that he played this week. He really played with a lot of guts and toughness. For him to pick up his first career Top 10 is a huge accomplishment in a good field. As a team, I think we are continuing to get better, but we need to continue to take advantage of the opportunities that we have in front of us. We are a young team, and a lot of our players have the opportunity to play right away when they probably wouldn’t with other teams."

Tolson Finishes Strong

Sophomore Jack Tolson had a strong finish at the Louisiana Classics with a 68 in the final round to place in a tie for sixth with a 54-hole score of 4-under (212). Tolson was perfect on his final nine holes of the day going bogey free with birdies on one and three and an eagle on seven.

Kendrick Shines On Final Day

Freshman Cole Kendrick posted his second career round under par on Tuesday recording a 71 (-1) in the final round. Like Tolson, Kendrick played well in his final nine holes of the day with a pair of birdies and an eagle while carding just one blemish.
