Golf: Magnus Named To Sun Belt All-Conference Squad For Second Straight Season

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Junior Ragin’ Cajuns golfer Haraldur Magnus earned Sun Belt All-Conference for a second straight season as he was named to the 2015 SBC All-Conference Second Team, the league office announced on Friday.

"I’m very proud and happy for Haddi earning All-Conference honors," head coach Theo Sliman said. "Haddi had a lot of pressure on him all year being a returning All-Conference selection from last year as well as playing in the number one slot for most of the year. Throughout the year he knew the team was depending on him and certainly answered the challenge week in and week out. Haddi had an impressive and consistent junior campaign, yet I know he is not content. He will work hard this summer and certainly has his mind on returning as a senior and leaving his mark on this program."

Magnus, a 2014 Sun Belt All-Conference First Team selection, posted a career-best season stroke average of 73.06 in 33 rounds to lead the squad. The native recorded eight top 25 finishes on the year including three top 10 finishes. Magnus also carded 13 rounds of par or better on the year.

His best finish of the 2014-15 season came at the David Toms Intercollegiate finishing in a tie for fifth. Magnus also tallied a season low three-round score of 2-under par twice during the season at the Sam Hall Intercollegiate and the 30th Annual Louisiana Classics.
