Golf: Magnus Named Sun Belt Men’s Golfer Of The Month

 

 

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns senior golfer Haraldur Magnus was named the Sun Belt Men’s Golfer of the Month after recording the best start in his career and in program history posting top 10 finishes in all three tournaments to start the year, the league office announced on Wednesday.

 

 

 

Magnus went 95-4-2 during that stretch against conference opponents. He is currently tied for 12th in the nation in scoring average at 69.67 and is rated eighth nationally by GolfStat.

 

 

 

A native of Reykjavik, Iceland, Magnus has carded a score of par or better in eight of his nine rounds. Magnus has also notched three straight 54-hole scores under par for the first time in a season including a career-best 6-under (207) score at the Sam Hall Intercollegiate finishing in seventh place.

 

 

 

Magnus has placed top 5 in his last two events finishing in a tie for fourth at both with a 5-under (208) at the Sun Belt Conference Fall Preview and a 4-under (212) at the Cabo Del Sol Intercollegiate. The senior has tallied four rounds in the 60s and has twice carded a career-low 67 this fall. 

 

 

 

The Cajuns return to action this weekend as they head to the University Club in Baton Rouge, La. for the David Toms Intercollegiate.
