Golf: Magnus And Cruz Valle Tabbed To LSWA All-Louisiana Squad

LAFAYETTE, La. – Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns golfers Haraldur Magnus and Fernando Cruz Valle made a return to the LSWA All-Louisiana team for the 2015-16 season, the Louisiana Sports Writers Association (LSWA) announced on Saturday.
 
"I am extremely proud of both Fern (Fernando) and Haddi (Haraldur) to earn All-Louisiana honors," head coach Theo Sliman said. "This is yet another feather in the cap for Haddi who had an outstanding career here at Louisiana. I can’t say enough about what he was able to accomplish in his three years in the program. I’m also glad to see Fern pickup another honor in his career. Hopefully this will lead right into a great senior campaign for him next year."
 
The pair is making their second appearance on the LSWA All-Louisiana team after being selected to the second team during the 2013-14 season. Magnus was tabbed to the All-Louisiana First Team this year, while Cruz Valle was one of five golfers selected to the All-Louisiana Second Team.
 
Magnus, a 2016 All-Sun Belt First Team selection, led the Cajuns with a 73.08 scoring average in 37 round. The senior posted ten top 25 finishes during the year including five in the top 10 and a tournament victory. Magnus carded 18 rounds of par or better and saw eight of those rounds dip into the 60s.
 
Cruz Valle was second on the team in scoring average posting a 73.32 average in 34 rounds. The Woodlands, Texas native had seven top 25 performances during the season seeing his best finish come at the Sam Hall Intercollegiate where he placed third. Cruz Valle registered 14 rounds of par or better on the year including five rounds in the 60s.
