MIRAMAR BEACH, Fla. – Freshman Hudson Dubinski posted a round of 1-under par 70 while three golfers carded rounds of even-par 71 to lead the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns golf team on Tuesday during the final day of stroke play at the 2019 Sun Belt Conference Men’s Golf Championships at the Raven Golf Club at the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort.

Louisiana, which finished ninth overall in the 54-hole tournament, posted a final-round team score of 1-under 283 to finish at 3-over 855.

"Not the result we were in hopes of to finish the year," head coach Theo Sliman said. "It’s been a long year with highs and lows throughout the fall and spring. The future is certainly looking bright as we saw both of our freshman (Charlie Flynn and Hudson Dubinski) play in over 75 percent of our events with Charlie leading the team in both stroke average (73.27) and total rounds played (33)."

Peter Hinnant and Jack Tolson each fired an even-par 71 on the 6,807-yard course to finish tied for 27th overall at 214 with Charlie Flynn also carding a 71 for the Ragin’ Cajuns and finishing at 215. Micah Goulas posted a 3-over 74 in the final round to finish the tournament at 218 with Dubinski posting his low round of the tournament and finishing at 220.

Louisiana opened the day on the back nine and recorded a team score of 3-under with Tolson playing a bogey-free 2-under 34 with Flynn recording three birdies with a bogey to finish with an identical score.

The Ragin’ Cajuns managed to shoot 1-under on the front nine with Hinnant and Goulas each recording three birdies in their final five holes.

"We greatly look forward to seeing them compete as experienced players in the future," Sliman said. "We are also returning all five starters next year whom all have a bit of disappointment from this week and season. What we do with that disappointment is crucial for next season.

"I would like to thank the administration, (Director of Athletics) Dr. (Bryan) Maggard and (University President) Dr. (Joseph) Savoie for all the support during this season. It is an honor and privilege to coach this team."

Georgia Southern, which fired a team score of 21-under 263, finished first in stroke play at 821 and advanced to Wednesday’s match play round. Defending champion Coastal Carolina (825) and No. 28-ranked Arkansas State (836) also qualified for match play with ULM (837) defeating UT Arlington (837) in a one-hole playoff to earn the fourth spot.

Steven Fisk of Georgia Southern, who carded a 75 on Sunday before rebounding with a course-record 10-under 61 on Monday, fired a 5-under 66 in the final round and defeated Arkansas State’s Luka Naglic in a sudden death playoff.

Fisk, ranked No. 18 nationally, and Naglic each tied a Sun Belt record finishing the 54-hole tournament at 202.
