Golf: Dubinski’s 74 Paces Louisiana On Final Day Of Louisiana Classics

Cajuns to head to West Coast to compete in Lamkin San Diego Classic
LAFAYETTE – Freshman Hudson Dubinski recorded his second round of 2-over-par 74 and the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns golf team wrapped up play on Tuesday at the 34th annual Louisiana Classics with a disappointing 11th-place finish after carding a team score of 300 to finish at 899 overall.
Jack Tolson fired a 3-over 75 to post Louisiana’s top individual finish (7-over 223) in the 54-hole tournament, with Dubinski (226), Colin Troxler (227), Charlie Flynn (228) and Micah Goulas (230) rounded out the Ragin’ Cajuns five-man field on the par-72, 6,866-yard course.
Cole Kendrick, one of five Louisiana players competing as an individual, carded a 2-under 70 to cap off his first event of the season at 223 followed by Bjorn Gudjonsson (77-73-74-224), Peter Hinnant (81-68-77-226), Justin Caldwell (81-77-73-231) and Triston Elston (77-79-76-232).
First-day leader McNeese State, behind medalist Blake Elliott, claimed its first title at the Classics, carding a 6-under 282 to finish the 54-hole event at 863. Illinois (870) was second followed by UTSA (879), Kent State (881) and UMKC (883) to round out the top five.
Elliott, who earned all-tournament honors at last year’s event, posted his second consecutive round of 4-under 68 to finish at 211 overall and one stroke ahead of Bryan Baumgarten of Illinois and Collin Clark of UTSA. Cody Burrows of Oral Roberts and Chad Sewell of UTSA rounded out the all-tournament team after each finishing tied for fourth at 1-under 215.
Louisiana will return to action on March 11-12 when it heads to Chula Vista, Calif., to compete in the Lamkin San Diego Classic at the San Diego Country Club.
