Golf: Chip Shots – Bill Bass Results – UL’s Annual Homecoming Golf Tournament – Supports Golf Team

Dan McDonald, The Advertiser, Nov. 7, 2014

BILL BASS RESULTS:  A total of 33 teams and 130 players took part Friday in the annual Bill Bass Open, UL’s annual Homecoming tournament that serves as a fundraiser for the Ragin’ Cajun golf team and the Bill Bass Endowed Scholarship.

The four-person scramble held at its traditional Les Vieux Chenes location had morning and afternoon waves, and taking top honors with a Peoria scale-coverted 52 score was the team of Chad Soileau, Dan Langlinais, Curt Todd and Larry Aillet along with team general manager Pat Sheffield. That team finished tied with two others at 52, with Mike Frey, Mark Sibley, Chad Dartez and David Duhon finishing second and Louie Lowry, Todd Viator, Greg Bourque and Rob Stewart third on a scorecard playoff.
Soileau and Jesse Lyons took closest to the hole honors on the third and 12th holes and won gift certificates from Charley G’s, while Derrell Williams and Mike Grigsby had the long drive winners and won a dozen UL golf balls. Dan Murphy won a UL garment bag for winning the putting contest, sinking a 65-foot-putt, and Mark Bernard was the raffle winner of a limited edition UL golf bag.

Ragin’ Cajun golf coach Theo Sliman was on hand at the start of both morning and afternoon waves to thank all the participants for their support.

The tournament is held annually on the Friday of Homecoming week.
