Devin Carrey has recorded a pair of top 10 finishes and turned in seven rounds of par or better.

RUSTON, La.-Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns men’s golf team concluded play at the 2008 Squire Creek Invitational in Ruston, La. with a fifth place finish.  The Cajuns were led by senior Devin Carrey who finished the tournament in ninth place.

The Cajuns shot a final round of even par as a team to finish the tournament at two-under par to tie with Nevada for fifth.  The finish marks the second time in four tournaments this season that the Ragin’ Cajuns have finished in the top 5.

Fellow Sun Belt Conference member New Orleans bested LSU on a playoff hole to claim the team title, while Mississippi finished in third and Louisville claimed fourth.

Carrey shot even par in the final round of the tournament to finish the event at five-under par.  On the season, Carrey has recorded a pair of top 10 finishes and turned in seven rounds of par or better.

Joining Carrey in the top 25 was junior Kyle Pritchard.  The San Antonio native carded the best round of the day for the Cajuns, signing a two-under par scorecard.  Pritchard finished the tournament at two-under par for a share of 15th.  Pritchard’s finish marks the third consecutive tournament that he has finished in the top 25.

Senior Dustin Petit and freshman Andrew Noto both turned in one-over par rounds to finish the Squire Creek Invite at six-over par.  Their scores of 222 were good enough to give the duo a tie for 47th.

Freshman Philipp Fendt finished the tournament with a three-over par round of 75.  Fendt finished two strokes back of Petit and Noto for a share of 57th.

Thomas Petts, who competed as an individual, shot his third consecutive round of 74 to tie Petit and Noto at 47th.

On the day, no Ragin’ Cajuns golfer shot over a 75.

The Ragin’ Cajuns golf team will return to action in two weeks as they travel to Kerriville, Texas to compete at the Roadrunner Intercollegiate at Comanche Trace.  The event is hosted by Texas-San Antonio and will be held on Oct. 27-28.
