The summer was highlighted by five top-2 finishes by the Cajuns, two Academic
All-Americans and a pair of US Amateur qualifiers.  
 

LAFAYETTE-Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns golf team has carried the success of their 2007 Sun Belt Conference Championship and NCAA East Regional appearance into the off-season. 

The summer was highlighted by five top-2 finishes by the Cajuns, two Academic All-Americans and a pair of US Amateur qualifiers. 

Seniors Michael Smith and Morgan Landry were both selected Academic All-Americans by the National Golf Coaches Association (GCAA) for their excellence in the classroom over the 2006-07 school year. 

Smith also tied for medalist in the Houston, Texas qualifier for the US Amateur.  Smith will join former Ragin’ Cajuns golfer George Cestia (1997-2000) at the Olympic Club in San Francisco for the US Amateur. 

Senior BC Thibeaux finished second in the Louisiana State Amateur Championship, while sophomore Kyle Pritchard also placed second at the College Players Tournament Series in Austin, Texas. 

Transfer Dustin Petit claimed second place at the National Junior College Championships and incoming freshman Thomas Petts garnered a second place finish at the British Columbia Provincial Junior Championship. 

During the 2006-07 season, the Ragin’ Cajuns totaled five top-5 team finishes with 34 top-25 individual finishes.  The Cajuns won the 2007 Sun Belt Conference Championship and competed in the NCAA East Regional.  UL had a pair of players garner All-Conference accolades with Smith earning All-Louisiana honors.
