Golf: Cajuns’ Golfers Grab Honors, End Regional PlayGolf: Cajuns’ Golfers Grab Honors, End Regional Play Golf: Cajuns’ Golfers Grab Honors, End Regional Play May 22, 2011 www.ragincajuns.com – Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns’ Philipp Fendt and Andrew Noto were named All-Louisiana by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association as the duo concluded play on Saturday at the NCAA Southeast Florida Regional in Ocala, Fla. on Saturday.
“I’m proud of theses guys for leading the squad this season,” said UL head coach Theo Sliman. “This weekend will just add to their experience and show the rest of the squad what we are aiming for.”
For Fendt, it was the second straight year to be named to the All-Louisiana team. He played well on Saturday, shooting 67 (-5) to finish the weekend at one-under (215) to finish in a tie for 21st-place. After teeing off on the back nine, Fendt posted four birdies thru the last five holes to jump 15 spots up the leaderboard.
Noto finished in a tie for 42nd overall after shooting 74 on Saturday to end with a three-round total of 221 (5).
“We know now where we want to be,” added Sliman. “This tournament has taught us a lot. Now we just need to get the team playing as one and make the most of it.”
Missouri’s Jace Long captured the individual honors after shooting 10-under (206) while Florida captured the team title after posting a score of 846 (-11).
