Gary Smith Named Trampolinist Winner at “Legends” Hall of Fame Annual Meeting 10/14/12Gary Smith Named Trampolinist Winner at "Legends" Hall of Fame Annual Meeting 10/14/12 The World Acrobatic Society named Gary H. Smith, former USL Trampoline team member from 1969-73, as the Trampoline Winner at its Annual Acrobatic "Legends" Hall of Fame Awards Meeting in Las Vegas on September 20, 2012. Smith graduated from USL, now the University of Louisiana in Lafayette, with a bachelor of science degree in 1974 and a master’s degree in education from Northwestern State University in 1977. The awards are given to outstanding performances in the acrobatic sports as an athlete, performer, or for lifetime achievements. The disciplines include professional acrobats/stuntmen, diving, men’s gymnastics, women’s gymnastics, trampoline, tumbling, acrobatic gymnastics and extreme sports. Gary and his wife, Mary Gallagher Smith (USL Nursing ’74) reside in the Carencro area. He is the owner of Acadiana Gymnastics in Lafayette for 35 years.
