The Athletic Network is proud to announce the availability of a published history of early ULL that will help our CAJUN NATION better understand and appreciate the unique roots of our outstanding university: A Brief History of the University of Southwestern Louisiana, 1900-1960. The historical survey by Florent Hardy, Jr., Ph.D., a Cecilia High School graduate who earned three degrees from USL: BA in History Liberal Arts ’66; MA in History ’69; and a BA in Education ’72. Hardy’s love of education and history led him to earn his Ph.D. from LSU in 1974. Currently the Director of Archival Services at the Louisiana State Archives, Hardy has always been a strong supporter of our university and the Athletic Network.
Athletes and the Athletic Hall of Fame… politics and politicians creating the university… unbelievable antiquated disciplinary rules, especially for female students… Fraternities, Sororities, clubs, religious organizations…administrations, faculty, major construction…famous alumni recognition…and so much more informational documentation from the original collections in the ULL Archives, including 42 photographs to complement the text; an Epilogue; a comprehensive Bibliography (Documents, Books, Articles, and Periodicals); Unpublished Theses and Dissertations, Manuscripts, and Interviews; twenty-three pages of informative footnotes; an Appendix and a comprehensive Index.
This early RAGIN’ CAJUN NATION’S history provides extensive background information on many of the informative emails our viewers currently enjoy on www.athleticnetwork.net from the 1900 – 1960 years.
