Former Football: Former UL linebacker signs with Cowboys

Former UL and ex-New York Giants linebacker Justin Anderson has been signed by the Dallas Cowboys, his agent said Tuesday.

The undrafted Anderson, a client of New Orleans-based agent Martin Fischman, was the Ragin’ Cajuns’ leading tackler in both his junior season in 2012 and his senior season in 2013.

The product of Foley High in Foley, Alabama, Anderson played as a linebacker and on special teams in the preseason and in two regular-season games for the NFL’s Giants last season.

He also was signed to the practice squad of the Minnesota Vikings late last year and later signed a reserve-future contact with the Vikings, but was released by Minnesota in late March and has been without a team until Dallas signed him.

The Cowboys announced several roster moves Tuesday, including the signing of Anderson. They also waived/injured linebacker Cameron Lawrence.
