Former CC/Track & Field: Laura Zaunbrecher, 2000-2005, Qualifies – World Sprint Triathlon Champions

Laura Zaunbrecher, a former Ragin Cajun (2000-2005) cross country and track and field athlete, recently qualified for the World Sprint Triathlon Championships to be held in Beijing, China in September 2011.  As a distance-runner turned triathlete since college at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette, Laura began competing in triathlons last summer, qualifying for the National Championships in just her third competition.  Laura earned her spot on Team USA with an impressive 9th place finish at the National Triathlon Championships held in Tuscaloosa, AL last August.  The World Championship event comprises a 750 meter swim, 20k bike, and 5k run.  Follow her journey to Beijing by keeping up with her blog at: www.destinationchina2011.blogspot.com or donate to the cause to contribute to travel and training expenses.
