Football: Writers honor UL’s HarrisTim Buckley, Daily Advertiser, Dec. 9, 2011 Three Ragin’ Cajuns, including Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year Alonzo Harris, have been named to the 2011 Sun Belt Writers All-Freshman Team. Harris claimed one of two spots at running back, Daniel Quave made it on the offensive line and Jake Molbert is one of three linebackers named to the 30-player team. Harris, UL’s starting tailback, rushed 149 times for 638 yards eight touchdowns, including a single-game season high of 189 at Middle Tennessee. The true freshman from Gadsden, Ala., also has one receiving touchdown, giving him a team-high nine TDs heading into the Dec. 17 New Orleans Bowl. He was named the Sun Belt’s official Freshman of the Year earlier this week. Quave, from Gautier, Miss., is UL’s starting right guard. The 6-foot-3, 324-pound redshirt freshman hasn’t missed a start on a unit that has had the same five starters for all 12 of its games. Molbert has seven starts in 2011, and emerged as one of UL’s regular starting inside linebackers as the season progressed. From Rayne and a product of Crowley-Notre Dame High, Molbert is the Cajuns’ sixth-leading tackler with 61, including 27 solo stops and five tackles-for-loss. Florida International backup quarterback Jake Medlock is the All-Freshman Team’s pick at QB. North Texas placed the most players on the team, five. No Freshman of the Year was chosen by the writers. 2011 SUN BELT WRITERSALL-FRESHMAN TEAM
