Football: UL’s Cadona nominated for Ray Guy AwardTim Buckley, The Advertiser, October 31, 2014
UL senior Daniel Cadona was one of 80 players named today as nominees for the 2014 Ray Guy Award, which identifies the nation’s top collegiate punter. Cadona, from Australia, ranks 15th nationally with an average 44.8 yards per punt. He’s placed 51.4 percent of his punts (18-of-35) inside the opponent’s 20-yard line, which ranks fourth in the nation, and has had nine attempts land inside the 10. Fourteen of Cadona’s 35 punts this season have gone 50 yards or longer, including a career-best 77-yarder. He’s a two-time Sun Belt Conference special teams Player of the Week this season. The Ray Guy Award list will be narrowed to ten semifinalists on November 14. Three finalists will be identified Nov. 24, and the winner will be announced Dec. 11. UL (4-3) plays host Saturday to 5-2 South Alabama.
