Football: Students Invited to First Ever Student Appreciation Practice on Thursday

Red Zone

LAFAYETTE – All currently enrolled students at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette will have the opportunity to participate in drills with the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns football team on Thursday (Aug. 27) during the first ever Student Appreciation Practice at Cajun Field.

The event is scheduled from 3-4:30 p.m. All UL students are admitted free with a valid University ID. Students are asked to enter through Gate D at Cajun Field. The event is part of Welcome Week, as classes start on the UL Lafayette campus beginning Aug. 24.

Head coach Mark Hudspeth and the four-time RL Carriers New Orleans Bowl champion Ragin’ Cajuns football team invite students to watch practice from the sidelines and participate in various drills and activities.

Students will get the chance to enter the stadium similar to the Ragin’ Cajuns entrance prior to all home games and will also have the chance to participate in light drills with the team, including kicking field goals, receiving punts and kickoffs from the Ragin’ Cajuns specialists, and catching a pass from the Ragin’ Cajuns quarterbacks.

During the season, student tickets for all UL regular-season games are free. Louisiana will play six home games at Cajun Field this season, beginning with the home opener on Sept. 12 against Northwestern State and including games against Akron (Sept. 26), Texas State (Oct. 10), ULM (Oct. 31), New Mexico State (Nov. 21) and Troy (Dec. 5).
