As a senior, Hunt was selected for the 2020 Reese’s Senior Bowl and first-team All-Sun Belt Conference. Hunt did not play in the 2020 Lending Tree Bowl game with his team.

During the 2018 season, Hunt played and started all 14 games. That year he was also selected to the All-Sun Belt Second Team.

Hunt and his family evacuated Newton County after Hurricane Rita hit east Texas in 2005. He told Draft Network that he spent the next two years sleeping with five of his cousins at his grandma’s four-bedroom house.

The family relocated back to Wiergate when Robert was 11. According to Draft Network, his family relocated to a foreclosure his father found, which had rats in the walls and holes in the floor.

The family then endured another disaster after the family home burned to the ground in December 2010, according to Draft Network.

Everyone was safe and moved to Forth Worth. Hunt didn’t plant roots, and the family moved back to Wiergate and he attended Burkville High School.

“I was very blessed,” Robert said to Draft Network. “My family, my friends, football and the scholarship. No, I don’t feel like anything. I just feel blessed.”

The two games the Mustangs won during his entire high school career were both against Sabine Pass, one during his sophomore year and one during his senior year.
