Football: Our Lady of Loudes & Ragin’ Cajuns Athletics to Honor Breast Cancer Survivors

LAFAYETTE – Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center and Ragin’ Cajuns Athletics will honor breast cancer patients and survivors during the October 10th home football game against Texas State for the Breast Cancer Awareness Game.

Those honored will participate in pregame activities on the field and be recognized for their courage to battle breast cancer.  The hospital hopes to create awareness of the importance for screening and early detection of the disease through mammography.

It is estimated 1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer in her lifetime—currently it’s the second largest cancer killer in women, next to lung cancer. Through screening and healthy life choices, Lourdes and Ragin’ Cajuns Athletics believes more mothers, sisters, daughters, aunts and friends will live happy, cancer-free lives.

#WeCanKickIt

During the game, a social media feed with the official hashtag will be featured on the videoboard at Cajun Field.

"By adding a splash of pink to your game day attire, you can be part of a unified group recognizing the fight to end breast cancer," said Elisabeth Arnold AVP of Marketing and Corporate Communication for Lourdes.  "We’re excited to have Ragin’ Cajuns Athletics partner with Lourdes to champion this cause in our community."
