Football: Offensive Line Named to Joe Moore Award Midseason Honor RollO-Line is one of 24 named to the list from around the country
LAFAYETTE – Louisiana’s offensive line, which has been pivotal for creating one of the most dominant rushing attacks in the nation this season, has been named to the Joe Moore Award Midseason Honor Roll, the national organization announced on Tuesday. The Ragin’ Cajuns’ offensive line is one of 24 in FBS that were selected for the midseason watch list and one of two from the Sun Belt Conference, joining Appalachian State. Redshirt seniors Robert Hunt and Kevin Dotson hold down the right side of the line for Louisiana and were recently selected as Midseason Second Team All-America candidates by Pro Football Focus. Shane Vallot and Max Mitchell have started in every game at center and left tackle, respectively, for the Ragin’ Cajuns, while newcomer O’Cyrus Torrence has made his mark on the squad with starts in every contest since the Liberty game. According to the voting committee, "Louisiana may be the most physical G5 school unit we have seen on film. They come off the ball and combo block and double team with bad intentions. They seek and destroy when getting out in space on screens and they show that #PassProIsNotPassive! Louisiana has been a pleasant surprise and I predict they will have a couple of guys drafted from their unit next spring." These units have gained the attention of the Joe Moore Award voting committee as it moves closer to announcing the selection of semifinalists on Nov. 19 and finalists on Dec. 10. Selection of the 2019 Joe Moore Award winner will be made public after a surprise visit to the winning university’s campus in late December. Following its bye week, Louisiana returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 2, when it welcomes Texas State to Cajun Field for Homecoming. Kickoff is slated for 4:00 p.m. (CST) on ESPN?. Single-game tickets for Louisiana’s remaining 2019 home games are on sale now from the Louisiana Athletics Ticket Office at the Cajundome.
