Tim Buckley, The Advertiser, Oct. 23, 2019

UL football coach Billy Napier’s total annual pay is the highest among all head football coaches in the Sun Belt Conference, according to figures released Tuesday and compiled by USA TODAY Sports.

Napier’s reported total pay of $875,000 for this season is $50,000 more than next-closest Blake Anderson of Arkansas State, whose Red Wolves fell 37-20 to the Ragin’ Cajuns last Thursday night.

Other Sun Belt coaches’ total pay, according to the USA TODAY Sports annual report: Jake Spavital, Texas State, $800,000; Eliah Drinkwitz, Appalachian State, $750,000; Chad Lunsford, Georgia Southern, $680,000; Steve Campbell, South Alabama, $619,000; Chip Lindsey, Troy, $600,000; Shawn Elliott, Georgia State, $594,000; Matt Viator, UL Monroe, $390,000; Jamey Chadwell, Coastal Carolina, $360,000.

Clemson’s Dabo Swinney leads the list at $9,315,600, followed by Alabama’s Nick Saban at $8,857,000; Coastal Carolina’s Chadwell, a first-year head coach, brings up the rear.
