Football: Hooters offers UL bowl trip package (in addition to Alumni Association package) 12/9/11Football: Hooters offers UL bowl trip package (in addition to Alumni Association package) 12/9/11 Brandon Kane, Daily Advertiser, Dec. 9, 2011 As an expected 20,000 Ragin’ Cajuns fans prepare to descend on the Mercedes-Benz Superdome Dec. 17, both UL and Hooters are offering fans bus transportation to the game. Calling it "the best promotion nobody knows about," Hooters General Manager Brett Richard is selling a party-bus package that consists of transport to and from the game, food and drinks and a game ticket. The all-inclusive package costs $99, and Richard said the pricing is not expected to turn much of a profit. Instead his goal, Richard said, is to get UL fans together to watch the team’s first bowl game appearance in 40 years. "I’m doing it for the (Hooters) customers that want to go out and watch the game," Richard said. "It’s going to be a great time, so get on the bus and have fun." He said the event was inspired by past "Saints road trip" promotions that would take fans to the games without the worry of parking — and the dangers of drinking and driving. "You don’t have to worry about driving, and you can come out and watch the game," Richard said. The Lafayette eatery has sold around 10 packages with 15 more commitments, but Richard added he has nearly 40 additional ticket packages available. He said seats are between the 10- and 15-yard line around 30 rows up — an area he called a perfect location right on the UL side of the field. "I want to see UL together," Richard said. "Everybody is going to have a great time." The UL Alumni Association is also offering transportation to the game, as well, both as an opportunity for fans and as a necessity to people going to UL’s commencement ceremony, which takes place the morning of the game. "We want them to have an opportunity to go to the game, as well," UL Alumni Association Assistant Director Jonas Landry said. He said busses will leave at both noon and 1:45 p.m. Dec. 17, giving those attending a chance to take a group bus to the game. "We didn’t want to rush them, so we decided to offer a bus leaving at 1:45 p.m., as well," Landry said. One of UL’s two buses being offered is already full, and Landry said he expects the other to be fully booked, too. Landry said more bus space will be offered as fan demand dictates. The package does not include a game ticket, and seats are $30 for association members and $40 for non-members. Richard said the Hooters package will be available up until the morning of the game, and Landry said UL bus packages will be available until Dec. 15.
