Football: Emeka Onyenekwu Earns All-Star Game InviteLAFAYETTE, La. — Louisiana defensive standout Emeka Onyenekwu, who earned first team All-Sun Belt this past season after leading all Cajun defensive linemen in tackles, will play in the Texas vs. The Nation college football all-star game on Saturday, Feb. 2 in Allen, TX. The game will be televised by FOX sports. A 6-3, 250-pound defensive end from New Orleans, La., emerged in 2012 as one of the most dominant defensive linemen in the south, making 42 tackles (30 solo) with 14 tackles for loss (-51 yards), 6.5 quarterback sacks (-35) and an interception. He ranked third in the Sun Belt in sacks and sixth in tackles for loss. The Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week after making a career-high nine tackles (eight solo) with 2.5 sacks at No. 6 Florida on Nov. 10, Onyenekwu finished off his collegiate career by making five tackles, including 1.5 TFL (-2) vs. East Carolina in the R�L Carriers New Orleans Bowl. A four-year regular for the Cajuns, Onyenekwu played in 41 games, making 70 tackles (55 solo) with 23 TFL (-87) and 11 quarterback sacks. He graduated in December with a degree in biology. Texas vs the Nation began in 2007 as an idea to bring a sense of rivalry and teamwork back to the all-star arena. It was played the first four years at Sun Bowl Stadium in El Paso, Texas before moving to San Antonio in 2011. The 2013 contest moves to Allen, Texas, a suburb of Dallas, at Eagle Stadium, one of the premier high school venues in the country.
