CADONA EARNS LSWA WEEKLY FOOTBALL HONORS

BATON ROUGE – Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns punter Daniel Cadona was one of three players honored on Monday by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association for LSWA players of the week in state college football during the opening weekend of the 2014 season.

Cadona, a senior from Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia Sr., was named the Special Teams Player of the Week after he punted four times for a national-best 54.8 yard average in the Ragin’ Cajuns 45-6 win over in-state opponent Southern. Cadona uncorked a 77-yard punt for a touchback in the second quarter – the longest punt in Cajun Field history and the fourth-longest in school history. He placed one boot (a 46-yard punt) inside the 20-yard line in the first quarter and added a 50-yarder that went out of bounds at the Southern 20.

Kenny Hilliard, whose second half rushing helped get the LSU offense rolling in a 28-24 comeback win over Wisconsin Saturday, was named the Offensive Player of the Week, while ULM’s Mitch Lane, who made the ESPN SportsCenter Top 10 plays in a win over Wake Forest, was named the Defensive POW.

Louisiana (1-0) will return to action on Saturday when it hosts Louisiana Tech (0-1) in a 6 p.m. contest at Cajun Field. The game will be televised on ESPN3.

Single-game tickets are on sale by calling the Cajundome Box Office at (337) 265-2100 or on-line at RaginCajuns.com. The ticket office will be open beginning Tuesday from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
