LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns added another highly-touted recruiting class on Wednesday as fifth-year head coach Mark Hudspeth and his staff added 24 players, including eight from the state of Louisiana, along with prospects from five other states and Australia.
Louisiana, which posted its fourth consecutive 9-4 record and claimed its fourth straight RL Carriers New Orleans Bowl title, brought in 14 offensive players, eight defensive players and two specialists with its 2015 class. The Ragin’ Cajuns added six players from the state of Mississippi, four from Texas, two from Alabama and Florida, and one from Georgia. Of the Ragin’ Cajuns 24 signees, five are currently enrolled in classes on the UL campus and will take part in spring practice, which is slated to begin March 3.
"I’m really proud of our staff, this is a great recruiting class and the future of our program," Hudspeth said. "We did feel like we did meet just about all of our needs in recruiting. I really feel great about our class. It’s great that we already have five players enrolled (in school) and are going through our workouts. It’s going to be a lot of fun as we unveil the future of our program."
Louisiana’s recruiting class – ranked first among the Sun Belt Conference schools by both Scout.com and 247Sports.com – included five offensive linemen, three wide receivers, three defensive backs, three athletes, a pair of quarterbacks, two running backs, two linebackers, and one player each at tight end, punter, kicker and defensive line.
