Christmas Newsletter: Merry Christmas to all of our Atheltic Network viewers

Christmas Newsletter – Dec. 22, 2014

Congratulations to the Football team, especially the seniors, for four outstanding years of excellence on an off the field.
Please click on "more news" on the lower right of the news box to view all of the current stories posted about the New Orleans Bowl. Many contain video links and others to digital photo galleries. Watch the team, band, cheerleaders, fans and a lot more.

The spotlight feature this month is on Jeff Mitchell and during the fourth quarter of the bowl game, he witnessed his sack record broken by Christian Ringo while he was at his post of protecting Coach Hud on the sidelines. Both Jeff’s spotlight feature and Christian’s record-breaking performance are posted in the news.

The Hatfield/Paschal Men’s Basketball Reunion set for February 6-7, 2015 now has all of the information posted on the reunion page. To view the information, including the reunion packet mailed last Saturday, click on http://www.athleticnetwork.net// , Ragin’ Cajuns Reunions and Special Events (banner on right side of the news box), and the reunion heading. It is important to remind viewers that the reunion is inclusive and that it is being planned to include players, coaches, managers, athletic trainers, sports information, etc., for the 1974-86 years.

This period was historic in many ways in that it Brought Basketball Back. It also included the two years when Men’s Basketball played its final season in Blackham Coliseum (1984-85) and the first year of games in the Cajundome (1985-86), both under Coach Bobby Paschal.

Click here for the TV video of two "Tributes to Blackham." There is an opening of less than ten seconds between the two videos – wait a little and the second one will begin shortly. It includes the Old-Timers Game that year with many of our former starts in action…Thompson, Allen, Church, Ebron, Flake, Toney, Lamar, and many others who made Blackham such a special place for everyone who played, coached, and attended such games.
