Basketball: Ralph Menard Passing Leaves Void in Fan Base -Jim Champagne email &(obituary included)

This message on Ralph Menard was provided by Jim Champagne.

I am saddened to inform the Athletic Network that the ULL Basketball program lost a dear friend yesterday, when Ralph Menard was killed in a farming accident.  He represented what you would like to think a program should do for the community.  His love for USL begain as a young boy working in the feilds with his Dad and dreaming of playing someday for the Ragin’ Cajuns when he graduated from Acadiana High.  That dream was never fulfilled but his love for ULL never left his soul.  I would bet my last penny that after asking God for forgivness his last thought was that he would not see this young ULL basketball team mature into a Winner.  To all the fans who have been to the Cajundome to watch UL play, I can only say that no game will ever be the same without Ralph Menard in the stands.
