Baseball: Trahan to Step Down as Assistant on Baseball Staff

Contact: Matt Hebert

Mike Trahan, who spent the previous three seasons as an assistant coach for the Ragin’ Cajuns baseball program, has chosen to step away from baseball, head coach Tony Robichaux announced on Wednesday.

A Jennings, La., native, Trahan joined the Ragin’ Cajuns coaching staff in 2009 and spent the past three seasons leading the program’s recruiting efforts in addition to coaching outfielders and assisting with hitting.

“The last three years have been very special for my family,” Trahan said. “Many thanks go out to all those associated with this organization as we will leave with numerous special memories.”

Trahan’s last night in the Cajuns dugout will be Wednesday, March 7 as the Cajuns face McNeese State in Lake Charles.

“I thought Mike’s hard work and effort had earned him the right to stay with the team until his employer needed him. That date will be March 8th,” Robichaux said. “His new position in the private sector will allow him to commit more time to his family.

“Mike felt he could no longer spend the time on the road and away from his family. UL Baseball supports Mike in this new direction in his life.”
