Baseball: Trahan Tabbed LSWA Hitter Of The Week

LAFAYETTE, La. – Louisiana junior shortstop Blake Trahan was named the Louisiana Sports Writers Association Hitter of the week after helping guide the Ragin’ Cajuns to a perfect 4-0 week, the LSWA announced on Monday.

"I’m glad for Blake to receive this honor," head coach Tony Robichaux said. "When you work hard and do the right things, baseball will pay you back. Blake is not only an outstanding player on the field, but off the field as well. What he was able to accomplish during the week was a result of the hard work and effort that he puts in each and every day."

Trahan posted impressive numbers during the week hitting .615 (8-for-13) with six doubles and a home run while driving in three. Trahan scored eight times on the week and slugged 1.308 with a .684 on base percentage. The junior drew four walks including three intentional walks and was hit by a pitch.

Trahan’s six doubles during the week equals half the number he posted a year ago as he had 12 doubles in 68 games in 2014.

In the Ragin’ Cajuns three-game series with Troy, Trahan went 6-for-10 with five doubles, a home run and six runs scored.

On the season, Trahan is hitting .400 with a team-best nine doubles, a home run and has driven in nine while scoring 15 times.
