Baseball: Trahan Earns Sun Belt Player of the Week Honors

 

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Louisiana junior All-American shortstop Blake Trahan added to his weekly honors as he was named the Sun Belt Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Wednesday.
 
Trahan was also tabbed the Louisiana Sports Writers Association Hitter of the week on Monday after hitting .615 (8-for-13) with six doubles and a home run while driving in three. Trahan scored eight times on the week and slugged 1.308 with a .684 on base percentage. The junior drew four walks including three intentional walks and was hit by a pitch.
 
The honor is the first for Trahan who was selected at the Sun Belt Preseason Player of the Year and to the All-Sun Belt preseason team.
 
In the Ragin’ Cajuns three-game series with Troy, Trahan went 6-for-10 with five doubles, a home run and six runs scored.
 
On the season, Trahan is hitting .400 with a team-best nine doubles, a home run and has driven in nine while scoring 15 times.
 
The Ragin’ Cajuns return to action this weekend as they face UALR in a three-game conference series starting on Friday at 6 p.m. at Gary Hogan Field.
