Baseball: Trahan And Trosclair Named To Louisville Slugger All-America Teams

TUCSON, Ariz. – Junior infielders Blake Trahan and Stefan Trosclair were named to the 2015 Louisville Slugger All-American baseball teams, Collegiate Baseball announced on Thursday.

“I’m proud for both Blake and Stefan to be honored for their accomplishments,” head coach Tony Robichaux said. “Anytime you have someone in your program receive a national award it puts the university in the spotlight. Yet again this is another example of baseball paying someone back for their hard work and effort. Blake has continued to work hard and be a leader for this program since he stepped on campus. He’s a leader both on the field and off of the field. Stefan had to wait for his turn as he battled back from an injury. But, he worked while he waited to get his opportunity, and it paid off for him.”

Both Trahan and Trosclair were named to the Louisville Slugger All-America Third Team. Trahan, the Sun Belt Player of the Year, is receiving All-America honors for third straight season after being named a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American in 2013 and a three-time All-American selection in 2014.

Trahan hit .336 on the season and tied the school record with a 23-game hit streak. The Kinder, La., native led the squad with 79 hits and 17 stolen bases while posting 15 doubles, a triple, two homers and 28 RBI. Trahan also set a new school record with 10 assists in a game and made just nine errors in almost 300 chances at shortstop.

An All-Sun Belt First Team selection, Trahan played all 60 games and was named the No. 34 Draft Prospect by MLB.com. He currently ranks top 100 nationally in hits, on base percentage, runs and hit by pitch.

Trosclair, the Sun Belt Conference Tournament Most Outstanding Player, is currently ranked tenth in the nation in home runs and slugging and 23rd in total bases. He also ranks top 100 nationally in average, runs, RBI, OBP and hit by pitch. An All-Sun Belt First Team selection, Trahan drove in a career-high five runs in the conference championship game as his grand slam in the 12th inning against South Alabama lifted the Cajuns to the tournament title.

During the season, Troslcair had two double-digit hit streaks including a season-best 13-game hit streak. Trosclair has recoded at least one hit in 37 of the last 43 games and has driven in a run in seven of the last eight contests.

Louisiana returns to action on Friday at 2:30 p.m. as the Cajuns face second-seeded Rice in the first game of the Houston Regional.
